The Direction Mismatch
One of you senses for what the room is doing, the other filters for exactly enough, and your nervous systems are tuned in opposite directions. The friction shows up as "you always" / "you never" sentences neither of you means.

The 30-second move
This week, trade modes for one shared thing. They pick the activity at their tempo; you bring full attention without trying to nudge it. Switch the next time. The point isn't compromise — it's letting yourself be in the other one's setting long enough to notice what they get from it.
